Recent Results on Stability Analysis of an Optimal Assembly Line Balance

چکیده
Two assembly line balancing problems are addressed. The first problem (called SALBP-1) is to minimize number of linearly ordered stations for processing n partially ordered operations V = {1, 2, ..., n} within the fixed cycle time c. The second problem (called SALBP-2) is to minimize cycle time for processing partially ordered operations V on the fixed set of m linearly ordered stations. The processing time ti of each operation V i∈ is known before solving problems SALBP-1 and SALBP-2. However, during the life cycle of the assembly line the values ti are definitely fixed only for the subset of automated operations V ~ V\ . Another subset V~ V ⊆ includes manual operations, for which it is impossible to fix exact processing times during the whole life cycle of the assembly line. If , V j ~ ∈ then operation times tj can differ for different cycles of the production process. For the optimal line balance b of the assembly line with operation times t1, t2, ..., tn, we investigate stability of its optimality with respect to possible variations of the processing times tj of the manual operations . V j ~ ∈

Proper planning of assembly lines is one of the production managers’ concerns at the tactical level so that it would be possible to use the machine capacity, reduce operating costs and deliver customer orders on time. The lack of an efficient method in balancing assembly line can create threatening problems for manufacturing organizations. The use of assembly line balancing methods cannot balan...
متن کاملCalculation of the stability radius of an optimal line balance
For an assembly line, it is necessary to minimize the cycle time for processing a partially ordered set of operations V = {1, . . . , n} on a set of m linearly ordered working stations. The number m of stations and the initial processing times t = (t1, . . . , tn) of the operations V are given. However, for a subset Ṽ ⊆ V of the manual operations j ∈ Ṽ , it is impossible to fix the processing t...

Energy balance method is an effective and simple method which is used in the amplitude calculation of Aeolian vibration in transmission lines with Stockbridge damper. However, the accuracy of the results obtained by this method, heavily depends on the assumed mode shapes of the conductor vibration. In this study, by considering an appropriate model for the conductor vibration, a comprehensive m...

Assembly lines are special kinds of production systems which are of great importance in the industrial production of high quantity commodities. In many practical manufacturing systems, configuration of assembly lines is fixed and designing a new line may be incurred huge amount of costs and thereby it is not desirable for practitioners. When some changes related to market demand occur, it is wo...
